Cognex In-Sight® vision systems inspect rubber and metal washers at Cooper Standard Automotive, a tier one automotive plant in Mitchell, Ontario, that produces 14 million washers annually. The parts are monitored while they roll out on a conveyor belt and images captured are broadcast to a computer from an In-Sight vision system mounted above. Every time the camera spots a faulty washer, a mechanical arm nudges the part off the conveyor belt and into a reject bin. Images from the camera can be viewed in real-time or be archived for later analysis to optimize the manufacturing process and achieve zero part defects.
